Flamenco, folk and fairy cakes

A small but enthusiastic crowd enjoyed a benefit gig for the Friends of Windmill Gardens at the other main attraction on Blenheim Gardens – the Windmill pub.

The varied sets included excellent flamenco guitarist Fernando Reyes (whose performance inspired an impromptu solo dance performance from a member of the audience), lively folk band The Hobos, and the No Frills Band, whose enthusiastic mix of Celtic folk, bluegrass and gypsy had hostess Kathleen and friends jigging on the floor.

Fairy and butterfly cakes sold well, with host Seamus being particularly generous, and we raised more money through the raffle. Many thanks to Seamus, Kathleen and everyone who donated. The money raised will go towards our free events over the summer.

The next benefit night will be Tuesday19 July – watch this space for more details.
