You may already know that, due to delays in completing restoration and installing utilities to Brixton Windmill, the building has not yet been returned from the contractors to our partner Lambeth Council. This has had a knock-on effect, as the council has been unable to complete essential risk assessments and health and safety checks for this historic Grade II* listed building.
So the Friends of Windmill Gardens have to make some changes to our advertised summer programme.
Sunday 12 June Brixton Windmill will not be open to the public this Sunday for tours inside the building. However, Friends will be in Windmill Gardens park from 2pm to 4pm. So if you want a guided tour of the beautifully restored exterior of the windmill or have questions about the restoration work that has been done over the past eight months, we will be very happy to talk to to you.
Sunday 10 July The Windmill Summer Festival will take place from 1pm to 5pm in Windmill Gardens. There will be lots of fun activities for families and children. The theme this year is wind power. It should be a great event – so put the date in your diary now.
Annual General Meeting
If you are a Friend of Windmill Gardens, don’t forget our Annual General Meeting on Thursday23 June, 7pm for 7.30pm start at St Paul’s Community Centre, 24 Blenheim Gardens, Brixton SW2 5BZ.
