Fancy dress competition for children

To celebrate the restoration and opening of Brixton Windmill on 2 May, we’re inviting children, their families and members of school staff to take part in our May Day parade and fancy dress competition on 2 May.

There will be prizes for best dressed May Queen, May King, miller or milkmaid. First, second and third prizes will be awarded in four age groups: under 5, 5-7, 8-11 and 12-16.

We are also looking for musical bands or children who play musical instruments to take part in the parade (fancy dress optional).

All children and their parents/carers should assemble outsideBrixton Tate Library at 1.45pm to leave at 2pm on Monday 2 May. The parade to Brixton Windmill should take about 30 minutes. Celebrations will continue in Windmill Gardens with music, stalls, fun activities, and tours of the restored Windmill.
