May Day parade for opening

Plans are now in progress for the grand reopening of Brixton Windmill on May Day bank holiday, Monday 2 May.

Come and join in the parade and walk up Brixton Hill to the opening ceremony at the mill alongside:

* a steel band, salsa band, and various other bands
* Brixton Windmill Theatre Company
* a stilt walker.

To enter the spirit of the parade, we’d love you to dress as a miller or a May Day Queen or King, or wear a hat or dress with flowers.

We are also holding a fancy dress competition for children, who will head the parade led by the Brixton Windmill Theatre Company.

If you or your friends can play an instrument or know of a band who would like to join us, please email or contact Jill Reiss on 07534 221 744. The more the merrier, as we have also arranged for the road to be closed for half an hour.

Please feel free to join us with or without a May Day costume to make this a special day.
